Snowflake

The project ’s consists of a stunning LED-lit glass chandelier, affectionately known as the “Snowflake,” located at the bustling intersection of 57th and Fifth Avenue in New York City. This iconic symbol of the Christmas Holiday Season, weighing 3,300lbs and adorned with 16,000 Baccarat Crystals, spans 23 feet in diameter and stands 28 feet tall.  

George Stonbely, President of Fifth Avenue Snowflake for Humanity, envisioned a Snowflake that transcended its traditional white twinkling lights. The goal was to infuse it with vibrant, dynamic colors, including the signature “Tiffany jewelry blue”, creating a captivating visual experience. The client desired subtle color transitions throughout the night, but with a dramatic light show every hour.

The project faced two significant challenges: the intricate installation within the tight confines of the Baccarat crystals and a stringent 40-day completion deadline. i5LED rose to the occasion by deploying 615 custom DMX Mini LED lighting fixtures and 12 DMX LED flood lamps at the core, all controlled by a sophisticated DMX system.

The result was nothing short of miraculous. The Snowflake, already a New York City landmark, was transformed into a breathtaking spectacle of light and color. The client praised the collaboration with i5LED, stating, “We partnered with i5LED and took what is essentially an already famous work of art and enhanced it with LED technology to create something truly unique and awe-inspiring.”
